Crime Scene Cleanup
Indiana Crime Scene Cleanup
Crime scene cleanup is similar to biohazard remediation; however, there is a distinct difference. Following a homicide or other violent crime that results in the loss of blood or body fluids, our company is called upon to clean the scene. Unlike an accident, we will make contact with the investigating police agency or detective to ensure the scene has been released. Depending on the nature of the crime, it may take hours to days to release the scene for remediation. Until the scene is released, our team is unable to enter the premises. No work will be done until we confirm with the investigating agency that no further evidence needs to be collected.
How does your crime scene cleaning services work?
Either during or after the police have investigated the crime, our team will gather pertinent information from the home owner or person in charge of the premises. Information that will help us to determine the amount of remediation work to be completed includes:
- Location of the crime
- Type of weapon used
- Type of injury(s) sustained
- Date & time of crime
- Is there a homeowners or business insurance policy that may cover the cost of remediation
- Has a claim been initiated
- Name and phone number of insurance agent
- Name and phone number of police agency and/or detective
How long does it take to clean a crime scene?
- Initial ConversationDuring the initial call, we'll try to obtain answers to many of the questions above. This will take approximately 15 minutes.
- Release of SceneThere's no possible way to determine the length of time it will take for a police department to release a crime scene. We've seen this take anywhere from a few hours to a few days.
- Site VisitIf possible for all parties involved, our team would like to visit the scene. This will help us to prepare an accurate cost estimate for you or the insurance company. A site visit and preparation of an estimate can take two to eight hours.
- Remediation ProcessMost crime scenes, unless extenuating circumstances exist, can be cleaned in four to eight hours.
